چکیده
Objective: To describe our experience using polymer clips (Hem-o-lok®) for renal vessel control in laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy (LLDN).
Materials and methods: We conducted a retrospective descriptive analysis from database of all minimally invasive nephrectomies (hand-assisted pure laparoscopic) performed 2008 to 2020 institution. included patients who underwent LLDN vascular arteries veins, whose clinical records were complete.
Results: 330 performed, 183 (55.5%) hand-assisted 147 (44.5%) nephrectomies. Mean warm ischemia time (WIT) was 3.98 minutes median estimated blood loss (EBL) 100±140 ml. Four (1.2%) required conversion an open procedure due injury. 31 complications (9.3%) registered, which 23 (6.9%) non-life-threatening complications. No deaths nor grafts reported.
Limitations: the main drawbacks this study are its nature, that it is limited only one center.
Originality value: It questions contraindication issued by FDA use LLDN, demonstrating safe effective option.

The use of polymer (Hem-o-lok) clips for management of the renal hilum during laparoscopic nephrectomy.
OBJECTIVE Control of the renal pedicle is the most challenging step during laparoscopic nephrectomy. The standard method is to clip the artery and control the vein with an endovascular gastrointestinal anastomosis stapler. However, this device is expensive and has been reported to malfunction, leading to major complications even death. We describe an easy, quick, and cost-effective alternative ...
متن کاملComputed Tomography Appearance of Hem-O-Lok Clips in Patients Who Have Undergone Laparoscopic Nephrectomy or Nephroureterectomy
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Hem-o-lok clips are safe and reliable for controlling the renal vasculature. We retrospectively evaluated the CT appearance of Hem-o-lok clips in patients who had undergone laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) or nephroureterectomy (LRU) as well as their appearance on ex vivo CT scans. METHODS Between January 2006 and December 2006, 19 patients underwent LRN or LR...
متن کاملA Feasible Technique for Transient Vascular Occlusion by Using a Vessel Loop and Hem-o-Lok Clips in Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy
PURPOSE We introduce our transient vascular occlusion technique that uses a vessel loop and Hem-o-Lok clips in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. MATERIALS AND METHODS From March 2009 to March 2011, 15 consecutive patients underwent laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. All operations were performed by a single surgeon using the transperitoneal approach. The transient vascular occlusion technique ...
متن کاملHem-o-lok Clips Migration: An Easily Neglected Complication after Laparoscopic Biliary Surgery
Clip migration into the common bile duct (CBD) is a rare but well-established phenomenon of laparoscopic biliary surgery. The mechanism and exact incidence of clip migration are both poorly understood. Clip migration into the common bile duct can cause recurrent cholangitis and serve as a nidus for stone formation. We present a case, a 54-year-old woman, of clip-induced cholangitis resulting fr...
متن کاملLaparoscopic living-donor nephrectomy.
BACKGROUND In order to increase the number of renal donors, laparoscopic live-donor nephrectomy (LLDN) was first performed 8 years ago. Today, LLDN is a routine procedure in many centres worldwide. We reviewed the literature with regard to extend the use of this method, the feasibility and safety for donor, graft and recipient. Laparoscopic and open-donor nephrectomy are compared, and the impac...
